1. Acceptance
By using slowerhours.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to every page and every article published here, together with the Privacy Policy.
2. Who operates this site
Slower Hours is an independent publication reachable at hello@slowerhours.com. Throughout these terms, “Slower Hours” means the operator of this site and “the site” means slowerhours.com. The site is not affiliated with any publisher, retailer, roaster, equipment maker or social media platform.
3. The nature of what is published
Slower Hours publishes journalism, reference material and personal columns about coffee made at home. Articles are written in good faith and checked before publication. Where an article reports a research finding, the study, journal and year are named so that you can read the source yourself.
Even so, this is general information, offered to the public at large. It is not personal advice, and it is not professional advice of any kind. Kitchens, water, equipment and palates differ, and an approach that works on this oak table may not suit yours. Judgment remains yours.
Articles are accurate to the best of my knowledge on the date of publication, and that date appears on every one. Research moves and products change. An older article is not withdrawn simply because time has passed, so check the date before relying on it.
If you find an error, please write to hello@slowerhours.com. Corrections are published on the article itself, dated, describing what was wrong rather than quietly removing it.
4. Kitchen safety and health
Brewing coffee involves water at or near the boil, glass carafes, and equipment with moving parts. Handle all of it with the care you would give anything hot or breakable. Follow the safety instructions that came with your own kettle, grinder or brewer; where those instructions and anything published here differ, follow the manufacturer.
Nothing on this site is medical advice. Articles sometimes discuss caffeine and published health research about coffee, because readers ask about it. That is reporting, not guidance for your body. Caffeine affects people differently, and it matters a great deal if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, managing a heart condition, an anxiety disorder, a sleep disorder or a digestive condition, or making decisions for a child. Talk to a physician or pharmacist about your own consumption. Never delay or disregard professional medical advice because of something you read here.
5. Copyright
All articles, headlines, columns and original text on this site are © 2026 Slower Hours, and all rights are reserved except as set out in section 6. The site’s name, its design, its layout and its arrangement of content are likewise protected.
Facts are not owned by anyone. The particular expression of them here is.
6. Quoting and permitted use
You are welcome, without asking, to:
- read, print and save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use
- link to any page on this site from anywhere, including social media, without permission
- quote a short extract — a sentence or a short paragraph — in an article, post, forum comment or academic work, provided you name Slower Hours and link to the original page
- use an article in a classroom or a library program, with attribution
You may not, without written permission:
- republish an article in full or in substantial part, on any site, in print, or in any newsletter or aggregator
- translate an article and publish the translation
- present this material as your own work, or strip the byline from it

- sell access to this material, or include it in a paid product or course
- use this site’s content to train machine learning models, or scrape it in bulk for that purpose
Requests are read and usually granted: hello@slowerhours.com.
7. Images
The photographs throughout this site are illustrative images produced with AI image generation. They are chosen to suit the subject of an article. They are not documentary photographs of the specific objects, kitchens or events described in the text, and should not be read as evidence of anything. Each page carries this disclosure in its footer.
Images are covered by the same restrictions as text under section 6.
8. Acceptable use of the site
You agree not to use this site in any way that is unlawful, and in particular not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or to the server that hosts it, not to interfere with its operation, not to introduce malicious code, and not to place automated load on it that a reasonable person would call excessive. Ordinary search engine indexing is welcome.
9. External links
Articles link out to studies, journals, universities, standards bodies and public databases. Those sites are not under my control. A link is a citation, not an endorsement of everything at the other end of it, and I am not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices of any external site. Once you follow a link, that site’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
10. No commercial relationships
There is no advertising on this site, no sponsored content, no affiliate links and nothing for sale. No brand, roaster, retailer or manufacturer has paid for or otherwise influenced any mention here. Products are named only where naming them makes an article useful.
If that ever changes, the relationship will be disclosed plainly at the top of the affected article, and these terms will be updated first.
11. Availability and changes
This is a small site run by one person. It may be unavailable at times, for maintenance, for hosting reasons, or for no reason I can identify. I do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and I may add, alter, correct or remove any content at any time without notice.
These terms may be revised. The version in force is the one published on this page, and the date at the top reflects when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
This site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. I do not warrant that the content is complete, current or error-free, or that the site will be free of interruption, defects or harmful components.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slower Hours is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, this site or anything published on it — including any outcome of following a brewing method, a cleaning method, a storage method or a purchasing suggestion described here.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of this site is established, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
